Soledad
Acrylic and pastel on paper, 22" x 18"
Soledad is the Spanish word for loneliness, an emotion I have been very familiar with throughout my life. Against a desolate but beautiful background, stands the lone figure of a woman. She hugs herself as a strong wind blows all around her. The irony I am depicting here is that it has been in the most painful moments of loneliness that my better paintings emerge.
